Americana Festival
Wright Hearts Chapter #61 is participating in this year's annual Centerville-Washington Township Americana Festival on July 4th.  We will be manning a booth at the street fair where we will be raising awareness about our chapter and what we have to offer people in our community.  We need volunteers to pass out magnets and literature and to speak with people about our organization.  The booth will be open from 9:30am  -  5:00pm but we will need individuals there starting at 8:30am through 6:00pm.  We are asking that volunteers work 2-3 hour shifts throughout the day but if you are able to work longer, that would be great.    Please contact Craig Lindahl at ctatrends@sbcglobal.net  or (937) 829-1700 for more information or to sign up for a shift.  We need your participation to make this effort successful!  Thank you!  Our booth number is 327 so please stop by and say "HI" if you are in the area.  We would love to see you!

Walk with a Doc Program
"Walk with a Doc" is a FREE, non-profit program for anyone interested in taking steps for his/her health.  The program was founded by Dr. David Sabgir, a physician in Columbus, Ohio and is now in many communities
across the U.S.  Physicians, specialists and healthcare professionals from
our community provide support and answer questions at each walk.

The closest walks to us are held the first Saturday of each month in Kettering.  Participants will walk the Iron Horse Trail starting on
Hempstead Station Drive.  The walks will begin around 8:40-8:55am with Registration at 8:15am and a talk by the leading physician at 8:30am.  For more information about these walks, you can visit their web site at www.walkwithadoc.org.

It would be great to have our chapter represented at these walks!  We hope to see you there!

Community Day Fundraiser Update
The Community Day Fundraiser is still going on and will continue through March 1st. To-date we have sold 104 coupon booklets. By selling more than 100 booklets, we have been invited to sell the coupon booklets in Elder Beermans during the actual Community Day Event on February 28th and March 1st.

We still need your help though.  Our goal is to sell 400 booklets, and we have less than two weeks to do this. Please promote and sell booklets to your family, friends and neighbors.  If you are in need of booklets to sell or you wish to sign up for in-store sales, please email us at mendedhearts61@gmail.com and we will add you on the list.  We also ask that you keep us informed of your sales progress since we are required to report this data weekly.

The Wright Hearts Chapter needs your help with this fundraiser.  Please do what you can to help the chapter reach its sales goal of 400 booklets!

Wright Hearts Member: Tim Ortlieb
Check this out!  On February 7, 2014 NewsOK published an article about one of our own: Tim Ortlieb.  Tim is a Wright Hearts member and is one of our accredited visitors at Upper Valley Medical Center.

"February is American Heart Month, survivor Tim Ortlieb reflects on his personal journey
Written by Will E. Sanders

More than half-million people will die in the next year alone from heart disease.

Heart disease, responsible for 600,000 deaths a year and the leading cause of death in American, does not discriminate, either.

Heart disease does not care what skin color a person is or their social or financial status.  Heart disease does not discriminate by gender any more than heart disease discriminates against the number of grandchildren a person has, or if they have any at all.

Heart disease does not care what your name is.

Or if your name is Tim Ortlieb  -  and have five grandchildren".

February is "Celebrate the Heart" Month
This month is dedicated to raising awareness of heart
disease through  increased knowledge of heart disease
and methods to  prevent it.  Heart disease remains the
leading cause of  death in the United States for both
men and women  with 1.5 million Americans suffering
from heart attacks  or strokes each year.  To help
reduce your risk of heart  disease: exercise daily, eat a
healthy diet, quit  smoking, maintain a healthy weight,
monitor your blood  pressure and cholesterol, and
control your blood sugar.  For more information, check out organizations like Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC).
